Book City: Progetto

The Oneworks Foundation, under the direction of Silvia Botti, has introduced Progetto, an innovative series of meetings dedicated to the world of architecture, proudly organised in collaboration with Bookcity Milano. This unique initiative takes you directly into some of Milan's most renowned design studios, offering an intimate setting for exploration and discussion.

Progetto opens the doors of these distinguished practices, providing a rare opportunity to delve into current architectural projects and broader urban visions. Each session is thoughtfully curated around a central keyword, chosen to reflect the host studio's distinct design identity and working methodology. These engaging discussions are further enriched by drawing inspiration from key reference books and the insights of iconic authors within the architectural field

The inaugural edition of Progetto explored vital themes such as method, design identity, and the future of the profession, with a particular focus on the evolving role of the architect in contemporary society. We were honoured to have a prestigious roster of Milan's leading studios participating in the 2024 series, including: Baolab, Beretta Associati, CZA - Cino Zucchi Architetti, MCA - Mario Cucinella Architects, Oneworks, Orsina Simona Pierini, and Park Associati.

Returned in March 2025 for its second edition, Progetto was the BookCity Milano format dedicated to architecture. This year’s programme explored the role of design not only in architecture, but also in shaping one’s own professional journey. It aimed to highlight the diversity of professional trajectories and design approaches, while encouraging reflection on how, in a constantly evolving world, we are all called to become “architects of ourselves,” developing the design skills needed to shape and realise our life strategies.

Atelierzero, NOI Libreria and OBR Open Building Research hosted a series of BookCity Milano events dedicated to architecture and design, focusing on urban visions and innovative professional paths.

In its third edition, BookCity Progetto entered several Milanese architecture studios to examine how spaces dedicated to culture are conceived and how they are evolving. From museums to libraries, from schools to public spaces, the programme reflected on the inspirations that stimulate designers’ creativity and the factors that guide their choices.

The participating studios, diverse in history, scale, and experience, were united by a shared focus on places of culture; spaces where people create, engage, teach, and learn. This edition featured four events hosted by Atelier delle Verdure, De Amicis Architetti, Migliore+Servetto, and Alterstudio Partners.

Progetto aims to foster a richer, more accessible dialogue about architecture and urbanism, bridging seminal texts with contemporary practice and looking towards the future of our built environment.
