Il futuro della progettazione urbana interdisciplinare: il tavolo luminoso Workshop

The Foundation was invited by Politecnico di Milano to take part in the workshop: “Il futuro della progettazione urbana interdisciplinare: il tavolo luminoso” (The future of Interdisciplinary Urban Design: The Luminous Planning Table). At POLIMI, Barbara E. A. Piga full time Professor and Researcher at @LABSIMURB presented the Luminous Planning Table (LPT), a phygital picture that combines both physical and digital models to aid in the design, evaluation, and understanding of urban transformations.

The version showcased to stakeholders is the result of collaboration with Marco Boffi, a Professor of Social and Environmental Psychology at Università degli Studi di Milano, who provided a fresh perspective by analysing the connection between spaces and communities, and design influences people’s wellbeing.

Thanks to its user-friendly and multi-user platform, the Luminous Planning Table allows both stakeholders and professionals to interact directly with the simulated environment, experimenting in real-time the effects of architecture and environmental changes, from shadows to visual perception, to atmosphere and temperature variations.

The collaborative project is part of the activities carried out by Spoke 1 ‘Urban Regeneration – Cities of Tomorrow’ of MUSA scarl – Multilayered Urban Sustainability Action, financed by the European Union under the PNRR.
