UNECE Committee on Urban Development, Housing, and Land Management
During the 85th session of the UNECE Committee on Urban Development, Housing, and Land Management at the United Nations in Geneva has been presented our work in Mykolaiv as part of the UN4UkrainianCities initiative under the session focused on sustainable urban recovery in Ukraine. Francesca Pintus, Senior Urban Designer and Associate Director, presented the latest updates on the Mykolaiv Concept Masterplan, developed in close collaboration with the Mykolaiv City Council and UNECE. Together with a global team of experts, we’re working on the city’s recovery through an actionable plan and five pilot projects aimed at transforming the urban environment.
Reflecting on the project, Francesca Pintus shared: “For an urbanist, it is quite challenging to reimagine a city without seeing it. For so long, we were not able to visit Mykolaiv, and the support of the Municipality, the UNECE interpreters, and the engagement of the local community have been fundamental to understanding the challenges and opportunities of the city.
