New European Bauhaus (NEB) Festival

The New European Bauhaus (NEB) is an EU policy and funding initiative launched by the European Commission in 2021. The goal of the initiative is to foster sustainable solutions for transforming the built environment and lifestyles under the green transition. During the NEB Festival 2024, and as part of the NEB Satellite Events, Politecnico di Milano illustrated how the Exp-EIA© 4P (Experiential Environmental Impact Assessment 4P ‘Public–Private– People–Partnership’) methodology was applied to the Concept Masterplan for Mykolaiv. Exp-EIA© 4P is a scientific method jointly developed by Politecnico di Milano and Università degli Studi di Milano (UNIMI), bringing together architecture and psychology. It allows to map and compare citizen’s perceptions of urban environments, to facilitate the sharing of perspectives and ideas on urban regeneration processes. The activity presented during this event consisted of two parts - an open call for participation in an online survey, aimed to understand the perception of diverse user groups toward a selection of Mykolaiv’s heritage buildings, and a remote presentation of the survey’s outcomes for citizens and stakeholders. The results of the study informed the selection of the proposed Culture & Heritage Pilot Project sites for Mykolaiv.
